Our mother had a kind and loving heart and was an example of independence and self-reliance. She passed on these admirable qualities to her four loving children who have always tried to do her proud. We are thankful for her leadership in our lives and in our careers. Her strength made us all into the people, and the parents, that we are today. She was comfortable and happy in her home, which she loved, until the end.

She attended to her affairs with a diligence that would rival someone 50 years her junior.  We never knew anyone who could count up a list of numbers as fast as our mom. She loved flowers and her garden. Most of all she loved to laugh and have a dance!

Our mother walked almost every day, and she met many friends and strangers alike along her path. She always had a smile and a joke for everyone. Her pleasant demeanor brightened many people’s lives. We are sure that many will recognize her photo as the lady who walked everywhere, but she loved walking. It gave her the opportunity to meet so many people who really needed her unfailing optimism.

She was a woman of faith. She believed in her God and that He would take care of her and welcome her home one day. Her favorite hymn was one of the simplest, “Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so.  Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong.” She sang it to us when we were children, and she sang it to us when later, we were older.

Dear Mother, we will think of you and miss you every day of our lives. We will meet again one day. Now, you go and join dad, and our sister, Marina. They are waiting for you!

All Is Well

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I, and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

Vina and Family,

Condolence on the passing of your beautiful Mom. Cherish all your fond memories. Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Vina and Bernadette,
I am so sorry for your loss of you mom and I sadly learned also of Marina’s passing. I remember during university days being warmly welcomed into your mother’s home. My deepest sympathy to all your families and friends.
Ramona Crane – Quebec City

Vina & Family: I was so saddened to read of your Mom’s passing. Marina was such a vibrant and very independent personality and an inspiring character also. She walked every day and refused offers of a ride or any help or assistance carrying her two packages, one in each hand for equal balance and strength, she said! I had many chats with her over the years during our encounters while out around the town. I will always remember her lessons and aspire to do as she did. I know your Mom is resting peacefully now after a life well lived. Take care!

Vina, deepest sympathy to you and all the family.

I met your Mom many years ago when I worked at Dominion. I worked in the photolab and she was always bringing film to be developed . When she would pick up her pictures she would always open the package and show them to me. I still remember her , Grandaughter beautiful little red haired girl! She loves her so much. She would say isn’t her hair just beautiful! And that it was! Your Mom was so friendly and always loves to chat! She was one of our customers that I loved to see, she certainly knew how to make you smile.! God love her May she rest in peace! God speed Mrs. Broderick

Very sorry on the loss of your
Mom, my thoughts n prayers go out to you all

To the Broderick family.
So sorry to hear of your Moms passing. I had many chats with your Mom over the years and picked her many times on her way to and from the sores. She was a fixture on Gilbert Street.
Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

I met Dulcie just once, at Vina and John’s wedding, and remember her now as clearly as if it were just yesterday. What a sense of fun and what spirit she had! One of a kind. She certainly raised a great daughter in Vina — who has gone on to raise a great daughter herself. Well done, Dulcie!

Vina,
I am so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this challenging time.

I would see your mom walking up and down Casey Street several times a week. She always spoke and sometimes would except my offer of a ride to either the supermarket or drugstore. She talked about her family, her son and how proud she was of all of them. I will miss our talks so RIP Mrs. Broderick
