Edgar King, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed peacefully away in the presence of his wife on July 23rd, 2023 at the age of 72 years.

He was born in Perry’s Cove, NL and later moved to St. John’s where he grew up.  He was quite happy to tell everyone “I went to Curtis”!

He was a long time employee of The Community Food Sharing Association, doing what he loved the most, helping others. His job was a true testament of who he truly was.

He was always up for a game of cards, a drink of whiskey and listening to the cabin party. And let’s not forget his favourite hockey team, The Toronto Maple Leafs, he never missed a game.

Edgar loved to travel with the love of his life, Marlene.  It didn’t matter if it was Clarenville or Florida, as long as she was happy!

Edgar was predeceased by his parents Alice and Ken King, mother and father-in-law Harvey and Mary King, sister Jane Trickett and brothers-in-law Gerald and Raymond King.

Lovingly treasured by his wife of 33 years, Marlene; daughter Angie Ryan (Dick); sons Robert and Jason (Amanda); grandchildren Kaela, Gracie, Ella, Warren, Nolan and special grandson Alexander; brothers-in-law Gary (Monica) and Herb (Lorraine); sister-in-law Barb; special nieces Bev Antle and Kim Mulrooney and special friends and colleagues Tina Bishop and Egbert Walters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debbie Dalton, Kim Judge, Major Jennifer Hillier, Elizabeth Noel, Corrina Bishop, hockey buddies John and Noah, and all the staff of the Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge; also Andrew Rogers who was his homecare worker for the last year.  You took care of Edgar like he was family.

Cremation has taken place at Edgar’s request.  Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd, from 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26th.   Flowers gratefully accepted.  A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, July 27th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel.

Thank you to all family and friends who showed your support during this difficult time.

“Rest Easy, Champ! We will take it from here.”
