Aunt Betty and family,

We will certainly miss Uncle Don so much and his memory will remain in our hearts forever. He was certainly the best story teller and I remember so many nights just sitting around in Newfoundland or Florida listening and laughing until tears ran down our cheeks. Sending prayers, hugs and love to you all. Love Bev, Owen, Jenelle, and Taylor.

The Randell Family,
We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Don. Being friends with Jan and Rob, we have gotten to know Don over the years and can look back fondly on many great visits. Ben’s wedding in Wisconsin and Katie’s in Calgary were two recent special occasions where we got to spend time with him. May all your memories of Don and his full and happy life comfort you during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.

Betty, Donna, Janice & Charlie, Sorry to hear of your loved one’s passing. I will never forget Don! It was the early sixties and I was a kid fresh out of high school looking for my first job in the city. Don &. Betty took me under their wing and boarded me at minimal cost. On his day off Don would drive me around the city looking for work for me. Things like that you never forget! Rest in peace Don. You’ve earned it.

Jan and family, So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Thinking of you and sending deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Betty and family., Clarence and I were so sad to hear of Don’s passing. Please accept our sincere condolences. ????

My heart aches for you all over the loss of Mr. Randell, your Dad. It feels as if we have lost another family member. He was such an amazing person, a role model for us all as we were growing up. I have wonderful memories of camping trips together as a child. Please know we are thinking and praying for you at this difficult time. I am sure dad is smiling from ear to ear now that him and his best buddy are together again. Sending hugs across the miles, God Bless.

Charles, Deborah and The Randell family:
So sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. Treasure your memories.

Mrs. Randell, Charlie and the whole Randell family. I am truly sorry to hear of Mr Randell’s passing. He truly was a lovely gentleman. One of my favourite memories is when he came to my apartment to take my car around the bay, as I didn’t have my licence when I bought my first car. Unfortunately the City had come in and tore up the sidewalk. Mr. Randell wasn’t long finding some boards and making a ramp to get the car out on the road. You were such lovely neighbours, especially to my parents and I heard them comment so many times how they enjoyed your company. Keep your memories close at heart. My deepest sympathy. Carolyn and family

Betty, Donna, Janice, Charlie and families, I was so saddened to here that “Mr. Randell” had passed away. He was a very big part of our lives growing up as neighbors for almost 20 years on Glendale ace. He and Dad drove to and from work together everyday and continued their friendship outside of work. I remember one day while Dad was very sick in hospital and didn’t want to see anyone, but when Mr. Randell came by, he said he would see him. After sharing a few words they both filled up with emotion, I understood then the connection they both shared.
Cherish your memories and keep them close to your heart

Don Parsons

I have just heard of the passing of retired Chief Don Randell from a family member in B.C. I recall meeting Chief Don when I was representing the Canadian Police Association and attended the conference in St. Johns prior to 1981. We met again on several occasions at CACP conferences across the country and I have fond memories of speaking with Don and bragging about how fortunate we were to live in the two best places in Canada. It must have been the Ocean air, albeit different oceans.
I take this opportunity to pass along my deep condolences to Don’s wife and family knowing full well how proud they are of Don’s commitment to community service.
Rest in Peace..
Bob Stewart
Chief Constable (rtd.)
Vancouver Police Department

Betty, Donna, Janice, Charlie and all the Randell family. It is with a heavy heart that I write these words to you. You have been in my life since 1963. A very loving family who did much for me over the years. Don was no exception. Many times he was called upon to fix something for my family. He was very skilled at many things and always responded when called upon. As many others have written here, Don was a true gentleman. He was ethical, reliable and caring. He loved you all and Betty was the love of his life. There are many things I could say about this honorable man . He had a positive impact on all who knew him. Always greeted company with a smile. His stories were always enjoyable, I loved to hear him chuckle. He was and always will be in the hearts of my sons and me. Much love and sincerest sympathy. Selina, Peter, Steven, Jim and families.

.

Mr. Randell, I will always treasure my childhood memories of you. May you rest in peace. With love from your godson.

So sorry to hear that Don has passed away.. we had many laughs together down at “The Park” in Florida.. Don was a very soft spoken individual but he always got his point across! Don was missed by all when he finally decided to sell his property in Florida as I am sure he will be greatly missed here in St. John’s and beyond. Rest In Peace Don as you fly with the Angels to your final home!

Mrs. Randell (you’ll always be that to me), Janice, Charlie and Donna. Where to begin? My heart aches for you all and I truly feel that I’ve lost another member of my family. I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Randell’s passing. We have so many wonderful memories and stories. He was a “best buddy” to my Dad (Eric Parsons) and I know they are now together again – up to their old antics for sure. I remember as a little girl when we moved next door to the Randell’s on Hamel Street. Immediately, we all bonded. I became best friends with Janice and Dad and Mr. Randell became the best of buddies. (I’m sure Janice will remember the time she took a “lickin” for me – probably the only time I ever pulled one over on Mr. Randell.) Our families moved next door to one another to Glendale Avenue in Mount Pearl – even our phone numbers were only one digit apart. When I was a teenager, I remember one Saturday morning when Dad and Mr. Randell were sitting at our kitchen table having a cup of tea; and I walked into the kitchen in my “one-piece” pajamas and he asked me if he could give the toast to the bride, when I got married. I told him “Yes” but only if he didn’t mention the pajamas. There are a million stories like that in my heart. When my eldest son, Matthew, was born there was no question that I wanted Mr. Randell to be his God-father because he was, to me, the ideal role model. Mom always kept a picture on her nightstand of Dad and Mr.. Randell dressed all in white clothing, when they were vacationing in Florida together. I just found out from Janice, that Mr. Randell kept the same picture on his nightstand as well. One of my most comforting memories at my dad’s funeral was having Mr. Randell’s supporting arm around me at the gravesite. I wish I was there to provide the same support to you all. Mr. Randell will always hold a special place in my heart. All my love, Donetta

Betty, Donna, Janice & Charlie
So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Our Dad’s grew up together in Port Rexton and remained friends for many years. Some good times indeed!

So sorry to hear about Mr Randall. My thoughts go out to all the family especially Mrs Randall. Mr Randall’s daughter is a very close friend of mine in Vancouver. One time both he and his wife were visiting Jan, I happened to be over at Jan’s and Mr Randall and I found out we both were avid watchers of the Young and the Restless. He was actually an expert about the show, we had many talks regarding the show both in person and when I’d be with Jan and she’d be calling home. A few good laughs too. My thoughts are with the family.
