Obituary
Passed peacefully away Friday, September 15, 2022 Elizabeth Anne Dempsey (nee Bassett). Predeceased by parents James and Claudine Bassett (nee Best), son David, brother David Bassett, in-laws Pat and Sarah Dempsey, brothers-in-law John Dempsey and Rodney Hall.
Left with fond and loving memories, her husband of 44 years Patrick (Pat) Dempsey and son Patrick (Jenny). Cherished grandchildren Áine Elizabeth Anne Dempsey, Finley James Blackmore (Mother Rebecca), sisters; Mary Lou Hall, Dorothea MacLaughlan (Craig), Catherine Steer (Ian), In laws; Erin Dempsey (Gail), Carmel Strong (Robert), Gerri Barbour (Roger), Mary Hayes (Max), Noel Dempsey (Glenys) and Sarah Dempsey. As well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Paul Jackman, Dr. Sean Connors, and Dr. Kathy Hodgkinson for their excellent care over the years.
The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, September 19 from 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday, September 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Pius X Parish, Smithville Crescent, on Wednesday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to the SADS Foundation https://www.arvcfamilysupport.org.

Pat and Patrick & family: It’s heartbreaking news to learn of Bibby’s passing – although she has had medical ailments for so many years. We hold lots of lovely and precious memories from our early days down in Torbay visiting you & Bibby and the Kennys, when we all were just starting our families. We continued to always see Bibby at our BMO branch also. She was always so pleasant and caring. Treasure your own dear memories. Take care. Rest in Peace now Bibby!

I have many fond memories of Bibby through banking days and a few classmate socials, it was my pleasure to have had the opportunity to know her. Hard to believe Bibbi is gone from our Golden Girls group. She wasn’t able to join us for a couple years now, but she was always there in spirit and not far on Facebook on those weekends!
When I joined BMO in 1973 Bibbi was one of my first friends and she helped me as a “bayman” get used to the “big city” and we had tons of fun, we worked hard and played hard back then. I have so many wonderful memories which I will always cherish in my heart. Pat you have a lot of adjusting to do I know as you were Bibbi’s “everything” I’m sure you knew that.
Keep her memory alive in your heart and she will always be with you. I plan on doing that and of course, we will always reminisce about Bibbi at our yearly Golden Girls weekend. Never to be forgotten!

Oh Bibby, my heart is heavy today. I am remembering our meeting in Mar 86 the month of blizzards and my move to St Johns. You dragged me home for suppers from the hotel, while I looked for a place for my daughter and I to live. The Yarns over many a night ! Bibby, you had such an open, kind soul; rest now.
So very sad that Elizabeth is gone! She was a really good neighbour here on Newtown Road. I have especially good memories of her and Carmel sharing activities and stories about gardening. My condolences to Pat and Patrick.
