With the same quiet strength and grace she lived her life, Elizabeth Louise Pike passed peacefully away at home surrounded by her family and their love on August 12, 2021. Mom was born 90 years ago to John and Elizabeth Jamieson in St. John’s. In 1960, Mom married the love of her life, Richard Pike with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past October. Together they created a loving home for their two children, Kathy and Ken.

Mom was so much to so many but she was most devoted to being an incredibly supportive wife; a loving and gentle mother who was always available to us; an adoring and indulgent Nana to her beloved Scott and Christopher Henderson; and a proud Great Nana to her darling great grand-daughter, Stella Betty, her namesake whom she absolutely cherished. For Mom, family was her world and her every decision and loving gesture revolved around our happiness. She was also a caring and loyal friend to her “Juniper Lake crowd” and her lifelong friends who were so special to her. Mom’s devotion to her mother, siblings, and her pride in her numerous nieces and nephews was outstanding. Mom’s legacy is the kind, fierce yet gentle love she bestowed on all who were blessed enough to know her.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Richard, daughter Kathy (Lorne Henderson), son Kenneth, grandsons Scott (Natelle Murphy) and Chris Henderson (Monika Palinkas) and great grand daughter Stella Betty. She is also survived by brother- in- law, Robert Pike (Olivia) and sister-in-law, Lorna (Clouter), nieces and nephews she thought of as her own. Her remarkable and loving caregivers, Mary Bradley and Yodit Tsagai will always be part of our family. Our gratitude for their amazing care and love for Mom is heartfelt and eternal. You, together with her cherished friend and hairdresser, Linda Ryan, were her angels here on earth.

Mom is predeceased by her parents, brothers Ed (Joan), Alex (Mary), John (Marg), Walt (Phyllis), Andrew (Doris) and sister, Sister Elizabeth Jamieson as well as her Pike brothers and sisters in law.

Arrangements are under the care of Carnell’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, August 16 from 2-4 and 7-9. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 am at Carnell’s Chapel on Tuesday, August 17 followed by internment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Our gratitude is also extended to those who assisted Mom during her final days and hours:  Suzanne Condon, nurse practitioner; Father David Louch, and from the End of Life Support Team.

Donations in Mom’s memory will be gratefully accepted by the charity of your choice.

My sweet sweet Kathy,
I haven’t stopped thinking about you since I heard of your mothers passing.
Thank you for the privilege of doing Miss Bettys nails and I enjoyed every moment. Such a beautiful, kind hearted, soft spoken lady with an infectious smile. I remember the stories of family gatherings and how she loved her Chinese food.
I just hope that in all the activity happening in the preparation of her glorious send off that you find the time to take care of yourself, breath, and smile knowing that she had a wonderful life full of memories surrounded by the people she loved dearly.
If there is ever a moment you feel that you just need a friend. I may not be close enough to pop over but I am certainly available 24/7 to lean on.
Sending love to the entire family.
