Tim Hopkins was out here in Calgary this week and informed me that your mother had passed away. My condolences to you. Your mother used to go over to our house as part of a long term geriatric study. Soon turned into more of a social visit than a study visit! In any event I think about everyone from time to time and I think about you, especially at this time in the months after your mother’s passing. Forgive me for not communicating earlier. My thoughts are with you.

I am so deeply sorry to hear that Emma passed away . She was my moms cousin and they were very close and shared many laughs and tears together through the years up until my mom passed in 2009 . Emma was a sweet lady who also had a great sense of humour. I was planning to attend the funeral tomorrow but unfortunately I am sick and unable to attend . She had the special power to find someone in a group who needed a warm safe space, a kind word, and a best of all a sharp quip that would make anyone smile in the toughest spots. Mark, Lori and Allison I feel your sadness and loss over the passing of your Mom and Grandmother Emma and I connected 35 years ago when I became your next door neighbour. She was mother like, best friend, and an awesome shopping buddy with a heart of gold. She shared many of her Sunday dinners with Steve who loved her pot roast and cookies that she was happy to share with the neighbourhood. .
Emma was always there to support not only my family but a lot of other people who passed thru her door and as you know there were many.
Strong, funny, determined , tell it like it is with a big soft heart are just a few words that come to mind when I think about her.
Rest In Peace my friend, I will miss our talks.

My sincere condolences to Emma’s family at this very sad time. I had the privilege of being a nursing school classmate of Emma’s. She added fun and mischief to our days. This love for life and loyalty to friends continued over the years and it was always special to be in her company. May you as a family find comfort in your love for each other, in your cherished memories and in knowing that others share your grief.. Jean Pretorius, Gorham, ME, USA

It is with deepest sadness that Jim and I have for the passing of Emma, a true and dear long-time friend. We have shared many a laugh and many a tear over the years as we chatted about life events. We personally want to thank Emma for her remarkable zest for life and her canny ability to tune into your circumstances. to offer her wisdom and support in times of sorrow and upset. Emma will be missed so very much, and it will take a long time to remember not to pick up the telephone and give her a “ring” after supper. A kind lady who could be gentle or “feisty” depending on the situation at hand. Go in peace “Miss Emma” and know that you fought hard and now it is time to journey onwards. God Bless you and keep you and may you rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. Emma was a great friend in nurses training and that friendship continued into the 60 years since graduation.. she will always be close to my heart. I mourn with you.
