Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Care Home, on August 19, 2023, Florence Elizabeth Legge (Upshall), of Chamberlains, aged 96 years. Born July 4, 1927, in Little Harbour East, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland.
Predeceased by her husband Brendan Legge and her oldest son, Bruce Legge.
She leaves behind her two sons, Kevin Legge (Madeline), Garry Legge (Cynthia) and her daughter, Beverly Clark (Ronald), as well as daughter-in-law Bernice Legge. Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren, Steve Legge (Judy), Robert Legge, Cory Legge (Lynette), Michael Legge, Vanessa Legge (Mark), Ryan Legge, Christopher Legge (Sarah), Tina Fitzgerald (Shawn), Sean Legge, Melanie Smith, Matthew Smith (Jessica), Amanda Noftall (Stephen). Mourning also are her many great-grandchildren and her three brothers, Doug Upshall, Ralph Upshall (Doreen) and Gerald Upshall. Florence was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed, leaving a hole in the hearts and lives she leaves behind. We take peace in our precious memories and know that she is now with her loved ones who have gone before her.
We would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Third Floor West, St. Patrick’s Mercy Care Home who provided wonderful care to our mother during her stay there. Your kindness and compassion will forever be remembered and appreciated.
Friends and family can pay their respects at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. Her ashes will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. Thomas of Villa Nova Cemetery in Topsail.

She was a lovely lady who was a wonderful friend to nan at the home. I enjoyed the chats and snacks she would offer during visits up there while watching the mainland kitchen band. May she rest in peace
