Gary Roy Tiller

July 20, 1960 to December 10, 2022

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we say GARY ROY TILLER passed peacefully away in his sleep on December 10, 2022 after a short, brave and hard-fought battle with cancer.  Gary leaves to mourn his wife of 35 years, Patricia (Tish) Tiller, his mother Marjorie and brother Jeff (Val and his nieces Chelsea, Jenny), his mother-in-law Alice Clift, his brother-in-law Tom Clift (Anne and his nieces Allison, Joannah and Maria), his sister-in-law Cathy Cunningham (Geoff and his nieces Jennifer and Jessica), his sister-in-law Jennifer Clift (Greg Rose and his only nephew Thomas) and many, many more family and special friends.  Predeceased by his infant son Andrew Roy (1991), his father Roy (1989) and his father-in-law Tom Clift (2018).

Gary was a self-professed lover of animals over people and dearly loved his furry family. An avid reader, curler, chef and traveller.  He spent many hours reading on the deck (home or on a cruise ship) and more hours than can be counted taking care of his dogs. Gary loved hockey but was the ultimate football fan and spent many Sundays by the TV.

Gary enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends but never the spotlight.  He will be dearly missed.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, December 13th from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  Funeral service will be held from St. James United Church, 330 Elizabeth Avenue, on Wednesday, December 14th at 11:00am.  Inurnment will be immediately after the service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name can be made to the Canadian Progress Club St. John’s (progressclub.square.site).

Always and forever,

Tish
