Gerald “Gel” Bruce Dawe
August 13th, 1948 – August 4th, 2021
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of beloved family member, friend, and teacher Gerald “Gel” Bruce Dawe.
Predeceased by his mother, Dorothy; father, Gerald (Sr) and stepmother, Mary.
Gerald’s memory lives on through his twin daughters, Jessica (Landon Holley) and Sarah; son, Jeremy; sisters Corinne and Deborah (Ian King); special cousins Ruth (Pat Flynn), Morgan (Laura); grandsons, Greyson and Tristan; Nephew, Ronie; Niece, Krista; special friends Glen and Chrissy as well as many other friends, family, and cats (Binx, Merlin, and Dallas).
Gel loved to learn, teach, constantly joke around, and share stories with loved ones like no other. He spent many joyful years as an educator in Ontario and had a sincere appreciation for the twelve years he spent in retirement with friends and family in Newfoundland.
Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will take place Sunday, August 8th, 2021, beginning at 11:00 AM at Carnell’s Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Road.
Donations to the S.P.C.A., made in his memory would be greatly appreciated, as he loved animals dearly.

To the Dawe family our deepest sympathy Gel was like a brother to me so meek good hearted and intelligent Gel stayed with my family for a short while and my kids just loved him they would sit and listen to his stories he convince me to let my kids get a dog (lucky) who we had for years and loved was such a great dog thanks Gel for being such a good friend and brother Rest In Peace and say hello to my girls in heaven

I was in NFLD this past week and wanted to see you but I could not find out where you lived. I told Debbie about the times you lived with us and how glad I was that Ron had brought you into our relationship and lives. Safe travels, you are well remembered.

Sorry for your loss! I never met Gel but I could tell how fond you were of him whenever you spoke his name. I remember how excited you were that he was finally moving home!! My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.!
