Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gerry Spurrell announce his peaceful passing on the 30th of September at the age of 80 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Margie); children: Paul (Kelly), Darren (Kerry) and Susan (Radafy); grandchildren: Michael, William, Julie, Elijah, Talia and Vanessa; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Gerry was an avid fisherman and spent many hours wetting the line, whether at his favourite fishing hole or on the water with close friends out for a jig.  Gerry was a great bowler and bowling was a hobby shared with his boys and close friends.

At Gerry‘s request, no service will be held. He was, as are the family, so grateful for all the visits, well wishes, special meals and laughs shared in his final days.  Time spent with close friends and relatives were a special gift that Gerry treasured and we will cherish moving forward.

Memorial Donations may be made in Gerry’s name to Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Riding Centre a program that has helped Newfoundland and Labrador children and adults with physical, cognitive or emotional disabilities reach their full potential for almost 30 years. Donations may be made at their website; rainbowridersnl.com.

To Gerry’s family,
I was shocked to hear of Gerry’s passing. I worked at Glenbrook Lodge and Hoyles home plumber, electrician etc would come down to do anyone our work as needed. That’s how I met Gerry. He was always telling stories and carrying on. Oh what laughs we had. I wish I had known he was sick, I would certainly have visited him.
My sincere condolences to you Margie and to all your family.. he will be missed. Hugs xoxo
