Gertrude Emma Holwell

Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, aged 69.

Predeceased by her life partner, Hugh Westcott, parents William and Laura Holwell, sister, Lorraine Brewer, brother, Brendan Holwell, brother-in-law Sandy Greeley and sister-in-law Millie Holwell.

Leaving to mourn sister Barbara Greeley, brothers Ron Holwell and William Holwell Jr. Brother-in-law James Brewer, and niece Rhonda (Danny) Squires with whom she shared a close bond. Niece Tammy Holwell and Nephew William Holwell (3^rd) with whom she spent many years caring as both their aunt and respite worker. Great-niece Laura (Ben) Stapleton and Great Nephew Colin Squires, Great Grandnieces Emma, Julia, and Katie. Nieces Sandra Wiseman, Donna (Don) White, Brenda (Russell) Neary, Tina (Dave) Thomas, Gina (Clayton) Elens, Renée (Erik) Nielsen, Kathy (Craig) Baker, Joanne Holwell. Nephews, Cyril (Diane) Greeley, Kevin (Corena) Greeley, Robert (Angela) Greeley, Danny (Alison) Holwell, Kenny Holwell. 28 other great nieces and nephews and five other great grandnieces and grandnephews. Also leaving to mourn special friends Lavina White, Gerry Dewling, Linda Mills, and many of the residents from Wigmore Court.

Special thanks to the staff in the CCU at the Health Science Center for their comfort and support during Gertrude’s care.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, October 17 from 11am-7pm.  Funeral Mass will be held from St. Teresa’s Parish on Tuesday, October 18 at 2:30pm.  Gertrude will be laid to rest with Hugh in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
