Obituary

Predeceased by:  Sisters Mary Bingham (ON) and Genevieve Dennis (ON) and parents Benjamin and Bertha (Collins) Burry NL.  Leaving to mourn:  Son, Ron (Joan 2018) Keating NL. Grandsons:  Graham (Florence) BC, Stephen (Connie) ON, and Ron Jr  NL.  Granddaughters: Marsha (Paul) Ridgway NL and Edwina (Ken) Bennett ON.  Many Great Grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Lorraine grew up in St. John’s living with her mother, sisters and grandparents (Collins) in a boarding house on Brazil’s Square.  Lorraine worked as a book keeper and executive secretary for many years retiring in 1983.   She enjoyed bowling and cards with her long-time friends, doting on her grand-children and great grand-children.  Lorraine had a good sense of humour and loved to tell stories many of which were about the times with family, friends and the many boarders that came and went at Brazil’s Square.  

The family thanks the staff at Chancellor Park Long Term Care for the wonderful care they provided her during her 3 years residence.   Arrangements being taken care of through Carnell’s Funeral Home.

Ron and family, so sorry to hear of Mrs. Keating’s passing.. She was always “Mrs. Keating” to us when we were together at family functions. She will always be fondly remembered by us. Condolences to you and all the family.

Lorraine is remembered with much affection and gratitude by the members of George Street United Church Women, especially those of us who worked with her in Unit Two – before the Units merged into one group.. For many years she was Treasurer of Unit 2 and in 1993 was honoured with Life Membership in recognition of her years of service. Prayers and thoughts are with you.
