Passed peacefully away on Tuesday April 23rd, 2024, at L.A. Leonard Miller Center at the age of 98 years.
Elsene was born to William Robert and Bertha Parsons of Country Road, Bay Roberts on February 11th, 1926.
Predeceased by her loving husband Alec Brace (2001), daughter Lorna Whalen (2017) (Cecil deceased), infant baby Sandra (1952) and granddaughter Karen Hill (2022), infant grandson Phillip Brace 1967, sisters Ada Power and brother in law Bernard, Phyllis Caravan and brother in law Les, sister Gertrude and brother in law Max Brace, sister in law Gertrude Kennedy and husband Max, brothers Don Parsons, William Parsons (Bill )and sister in law Alma, brother Jack Parsons and sister in law Hilda, brother in laws William Dwyer, Norman Wilson, William Saunders, Stan Muise and Clem Drover.
Leaving with a lifetime of cherished memories her sons Calvin, Wayne, Jeffrey (Melissa ); daughter Beverley; grandchildren Michelle Brace Taite (Chris), Heather Brace Hayes (Allan), Suzanne Scott (Mike), Nathan Brace (Jinsook), Paul Brace, Ryan Green (Jacquelyn Holden), and Kristian Green (Stephanie), Jordan Brace (Emily O’Brien), Kaitlyn Brace (Colton Olt), Julia Brace; great grandchildren, Charis and Riley Hill, Brooklyn and Phoenix Taite, Kailey and Ava Hayes, Amelia and Avaya Scott, Ellie and Eve Holden-Green, Ethan and Noah Green, Jaein and Logan Brace; beloved sisters, Linda Saunders, Shirley Dwyer, Beth Muise, Lorraine Wilson, Eileen Drover; brother, Lewis Parsons (Lynda); sister-in-law Mary Parsons; also a large number of other family members, including nieces, nephews, and great nieces, nephews.
Special friends Melinda Oquinn, Deanne Rowsell, Amaere Obuza, and Katherine Ryan.
Mom was happiest surrounded by her family and was blessed with many years to enjoy and partake and be included in their daily lives.
Her happy place was Ocean Pond especially the old bungalow dating back to her grandfather and the sawmill operation and a place to connect with her Parson’s siblings.
She loved her home on University Avenue and was able to remain in it until March 24 celebrating her 98th birthday there on February 11th. This Christmas past we had our 65th Christmas dinner in the family home.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 25th, and from 10-12 p.m. Friday, April 26th.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James United Church, Elizabeth Ave. Cremation to follow.
Interment will take place on Saturday, April 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
We cannot be sad as we have been truly blessed. We will miss her deeply but are equipped with the sweetest and largest treasure chest of memories.

To all of Mrs. Brace’s family. It is always sad to loose a loved one no matter of age. You were all blessed to have her so long and so healthy. Keep your memories close to your heart.

Jeff is a regular visitor to our Legal Aid office in Goose Bay, and we are always delighted to see him here. When I circulated this sad news in our office, one of our staff noted how Jeff would always mention his Mom during his visits here, and how close they must have been.
