I was so sorry to hear today from my dad that Jack had passed. I only asked about him a few weeks ago at the legion in pleasantville. Jack always had a smile on his face and welcomed all with open arms. Spending time volunteering at the Elks and attending functions and meetings it was always Jack that kept me coming back.

My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former colleagues and all that knew and loved him.

Rest easy my friend until we meet again 🙏❤️

To the Badcock family,
So sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. We worked together for many years a long time ago. I first met Jack in the mid 70s, and was promptly told that if I wanted to get something done and to know what was going on in and around the company I should ask Jack, and I did. A caring volunteer who left us in a better place today because of his many worthwhile community contributions, in particular the Lion Max Simms Camp. My sincere condolences to his family.

Jackie, Carolyn Gwen & family.
Sorry to hear of Uncle Jack’s passing… Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

To the Badcock Family

Sorry to hear of Jacks passing this week. Such a man of heart and character that poured his love into everything he touched at Lion Max Simms Camp. So many stories over the years told and retold, memories created and leaving a lasting footprint upon the grounds of a camp which he felt so passionate about to help those living with disabilities. The Jack Badcock room – a beautiful sitting room at the front of the camp overlooking the waterfront area constructed years ago stood as a living tribute and now a memorial to our dear friend. We will miss your laughter in our hallways but you will never be forgotten.

Jack was a good friend and a good person to work with in the telephone company. We remember his wife, Beryl, very well.
Our condolences go to his family.

To Jackie, Gwen and Carolyn, please accept my condolences on the passing of your father.
I first met Jack back in 1967 when I started with Avalon Telephone. From the start I recognized him as a special man who had a unique attitude towards his place in the world. He understood how things worked and how to get things done.. He was a mentor, and a friend. He saw the value of the the Lion Max Simms Camp and the children it served. For many years he led a group of pioneer volunteers to the camp for a week or more to do a project to improve the camp. He was a skilled wood worker and crafted memory boxes for the parents of deceased newborns at the Janeway Children’s Hospital. “His was a life well lived” and I am very glad to have known him.

To Jackie, Gwen and Carolyn. Sorry to hear about Jack’s passing. It was great that Marion and I got to spend some time with him last Sunday. Jack was a great friend and will always be remembered for his dedication and great work with the Pioneers and especially the many years of commitment to the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp for Special Needs People

To all of Jack’s family: My sincere condolences on Jack’s passing. I have many fond memories of Jack down at Bldg 107. I wait for him in the mornings to go down to open up and then have a coffee while we wait for the boys to go down to the work shop. I was part of the Wednesday dinner group with him and then the trip to Max Simms Camp. Those are memories I will hold dearly.. R.I.P Jack

The Badcock family

I first met Jack VO1FD (SK*) when he and family would visit relatives on Bond Street Carbonear.. He was an imposing figure at that time and very friendly. Years later I learned more about him at Avalon Tel and Nfld Tel as a man who got things done . He was highly thought of for his generosity of time and commitment. .
I believe that Jack was the longest licensed radio amateur in the province having passed the exams in 1955.. He was for many year the custodian of the Nfld Tel Amateur Radio Club VO1NT. . RIP Jack * SK – Silent Key

Jackie, Gwen and Carolyn and family ,on behalf of the Bell Aliant Pioneers we extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of a great man, your dad! He will be remembered for his contribution to the Pioneer Association and the Chapter he formed here in Newfoundland. A leader in all the major projects that the Pioneers were engaged in, too many to mention here. As in “The Pioneer Purpose” he believed in improving the quality of life in our communities, a true testament of the man called Jack. The workshop, the craft room ladies and lunch group will miss him dearly. Cherish your memories!
Rest In Rest dear friend.

To Jack’s Family. Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Jack. I knew Jack from the Telephone Company and spent a short period of time with him in the pioneer workshop. I acquired some valuable woodworking skills from him and learned of the passion he had for many of his other volunteer activities. His contributions to these organizations was second to none and his legacy will live on. May all your wonderful memories comfort you as you celebrate a life well lived.

Jackie, Gwen, Carolyn and family my heartfelt and deepest sympathy on the loss of your dad.
May he rest in eternal peace!

Jackie, Carolyn and Gwen:
My sincere condolences on your Dad’s passing. He was a great co-worker and community volunteer. I lived quite close to the family home and whenever I passed by and he was outside, it was always a pleasure to stop and chat about the good old days at the telephone company. I trust the good memories you share will comfort you in our loss.

So sorry to hear the news of Jacks passing.
I started with Avalon Telephone as well and had many fond memories of Jack over the years.
He was a wonderful person and was there to lend a helping hand to anyone at anytime.
RIP Jack you have Gained your Wings.

Jackie, Carolyn and Gwen,
You should be very proud of your Dad. He was a giver of his time and energy, like no one I ever knew before.
Be it the Elks Lodge, The Telephone Pioneers, Ham Radio Association or generosity to friend or stranger in need, he was up to the task. His contributions to the upkeep and well being of the Max Simms Camp for kids was outstanding. Both he and Beryl made significant contributions to the Elks Lodge, Ladies of the Royal Purple and all the charities Elkdom supported . The annual Xmas Raffle and the Purple Fund for Children were enriched by their selfless volunteerism. I could go on but just let me finish by stating that Jack was a friend , mentor, and wonderful man. I know this is a sad time for you ,girls, but your Dad was loved by many. RIP Jack.

Jackie, Carolyn, and. Gwen…..so sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. He was a fine man and I will always admire his happy personality and upbeat spirit. He was the loudest person I had ever met, and to a shy little kid in Deer Park, he scared me but I loved him. I will always think so fondly about your Dad and it gives me great happiness to think about your parents being reunited. Take care of one another during this difficult time and keep your memories close. Cheers to Mr B!

To Jack’s Family. Please accept my sincerest condolences on Jack’s (Wisper’s) passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Jack when I first started working at Newtel back in 1981. He was quite a fellar and quite a dedicated Family Man and work person plus his Volunteer activities speak for themselves. Only last month I was down to Max Simms Camp where I took pictures of the Tribute to Pioneers and Jack, in particular, for all the Group and he did for this wonderful Group of Individuals and it was hug proudly in the “Jack Babcock Room”.

Sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. Even in dark times you’d get a chuckle from Jack. The reference in obituary brings back memories. When I reported to Jack. After ouch on Friday he would say, “I’m gone to check the tower lights at Four Mile Pond”.. Ha, ha I’d check them four o’clock and they still working. We had a lot of interesting times. Forever remembered..

Jackie, Carolyn , Gwen and family, so sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing. I will sorringly miss seeing him in his recliner watching TV and every time I have Cole slaw I will think of him. You were all so lucky to have had him in your lives for so long and in good health until recently. I wish I could be there with you for this hard time but I will raise a drink in his honour. I will see you Jackie when I get back home.
