(James) Jeffrey Byrne

Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Jeff, after a short illness, on June 16th, 2023.

He was a fun loving, outgoing, adventure seeking guy. His personality would light up the room. Jeff retained a sensitive soul, with a warmth and gentleness that was obvious to those that even vaguely knew him.  He was a devoted animal lover, his 3 dogs Gypsy, Indie, and Cleo will miss him greatly.

Jeff was a highly sought after Safety Manager who worked on many projects across Canada.  His last job was the Director of Occupational Health and Safety with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Limited across Canada.

Predeceased by his parents, Jim (Ocker) and Suze Byrne.  He will be sadly missed by his two brothers David (Nancy) Byrne and their son Noah and Peter (Pam) Byrne and their children Lauren and Steven. He also leaves to mourn many family and friends.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will take place at Carnell’s funeral home on Wednesday June 28th 2-4 and 7-9.  There will be a burial service held at his final resting place at General Protestant cemetery on Old Topsail Road/Waterford Bridge Road, on June 29th at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA/ Way Home Campaign will be gratefully accepted and appreciated. It is also encouraged, in Jeff’s honour, to do something kind for your two- or four-legged friends.

Rest easy Jeff, you were very loved.

To the Byrne family and all Jeff’s friends, please accept our condolences at this sad time. I met Jeff on the Terra Nova project about twenty five years ago. and we became good friends. Since then, we always kept in touch and worked together on various projects .throughout Atlantic Canada.. Jeff was a very dedicated professional and believed noboby should get hurt in the work place.. Awhile ago he told me his illness was better and he was going back to work, I guess he didn’t want me worrying about him. I was shocked when I heard he had passed away and I will miss him dearly.. Jeff always ended our conversations with “take care brother” . So God Bless you brother and may your soul rest in peace.

Very sad to hear the news about Jeff.
Condolences to the family.
