To Emily and Family
There will never be another Jimmy Bown – always a competitor but a true gentleman and friend. Jimmy and I “shared” third base on Softball Tournaments across the island and played in the old Commercial League at Kelly’s Brook Park and, of course, Billy Rahal Field. He had that look in his eye when he stepped up to the plate and you knew that something good was going to happen and it usually did. I remember Jim would always look for and buy a souvenir of that city or town whenever we traveled. He loved to play softball and everyone loved him. He was an inspiration and a true ambassador of the game. You will be missed, my friend. Rest In Peace, Jimmy.
Our condolences for the loss of a memorable individual . We have many fun memories of times playing ball , skating and playing hockey on Burtons Pond , Having snacks at Knightville . Our blessings go out to Jim and his family.
God Bless
John & Liz
My dearest condolences on the passing of Jim. I first met Jim when he worked for the city recreation dept helping run Little League Baseball at Churchill Park 60 years ago. We would meet occasionally over the years and I would always thank him for his kindness to us as kids. Jim was and always will be a fond memory. Rest In Peace Jim. God Bless

Fittingly, Jimmy left on the tail of the storm of the century. As tough as nails. But a better friend. He loved softball. But he loved Emily more. Rest in peace Jimmy.

Emily:
Our deepest condolences to you and your family.
We are so happy that we got to see Jimmy at PCU a couple of times, you would never say he was in his last days, he was so alert and talking of old times. He use to love coming to our house in Mount Pearl during softball tournaments years ago with the teams. He loved the Caplin, Flipper Burgers, and Soups we had there for everyone. Jimmy loved playing softball at the Bill Rahel ball park and over the years we had many wonderful times especially when Libby was there. Emily, You and Jimmy were so happy together, we know you will miss him dearly. RIP Jimmy.
Dear Emily and family,
We are so sorry to learn of your loss. We are presently out West and unable to come to see you, but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
Sincerely.

Living in the vicinity of the Church of England Orphanage enjoyed, at the age of 13, playing many games of softball with Jimmy on the Orphanage grounds and later at the Bill Rahal Field…always enjoyed being in his company and we remained friends for over 60 years…he will be missed..
