Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on Saturday, December 24th, 2022, Jim Churchill. Aged 90 years. Predeceased by his parents George and Edith Churchill.  Also predeceased by all his siblings, brothers Reg, Cyril, Shel, Wes and Ross, sisters Mable, Gertie and Rita and by his brothers-in-law Don and Rox. Leaving to mourn his wife of 61 years, Ruth (nee Mitchell); sister-in-law Sonia Churchill along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.

Music was a big part of Jim’s life.  He was involved in several community choirs, enjoyed playing piano and also volunteered at VOWR.  Jim was an active member of Gower Street United Church, including the Men’s Service Club and church choir.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Visitation will take place from 2 -5 p.m. on Sunday January 15th.  Funeral Service will take place on Monday, January 16th at 2 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel.  Inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Gower Street United Church or a charity of one’s choice.

I’m so sorry to have just learned this sad news. Uncle Jim was a sweet soul and was my Poppy’s brother. He was always so kind to me and I’ll never forgive his warm hugs when I lost my own grandfather. May he rest in peace. Adele Palmer (Janice’s Daughter )

Sincere condolence to Ruth Churchill and family from the Mens Church Bowling League.

I’ve known Jim for many years, and while haven’t not seen much of him in recent years,except at church or the men’s club auction, I always thought of Jim with the highest esteem as a well liked, honest, friendly man, liked by all who knew him. My deepest condolences to his family.

Ruth, so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. While he lived a long and productive life , its always a big adjustment to prepare for your new normal.
In the meantime we are certain that all your wonderful memories will help greatly in the future .

Dick and I are sending sincere sympathy to you upon Jim’s passing. He was such a lovely, kind gentleman, and we always enjoyed our visits with you both. He had such a twinkle in his eyes, especially when he spoke of you. We are holding you in our hearts and remembering Jim with much fondness.
