It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Moores, our beautiful mother.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Tom and beloved son, David (Johanne). Leaving behind to celebrate a lifetime of memories her loving children Cynthia (Laus), Donald (Pete), Nancy (Darryl), and Wayne (Krista). Her cherished grandchildren Tim, Joey, Natalie, Daniel, Sarah, Sophia, Ben and Grace. Along with 8 beautiful great grandchildren and special cousins Lorna and Shirley.

A heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents of Westbury Estates for providing a loving environment during the last months of her amazing life.

Mom was strong, independent, feisty, sharp witted and loved a good joke as much as a good argument. She was a ruthless card player, loved a competitive game of darts and will be missed by her dear friends Pearl, Mary, and Sheilah. She was an avid baseball, curling and hockey fan.
There was very little she could not do with her hands and took up rug hooking in her mid 80s.

More than anything, mom was resilient and adapted to life’s circumstances with dignity and grace.

Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation to Epilepsy Newfoundland and Labrador.

Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, August 25th from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, August 26th at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

We are sad to hear of Jeans passing. Lucy enjoyed every moment she spent in her presence. Her kindness, spirit, fortitude and joy showed up strong, and she’s left that as a legacy in you all. You are in out thoughts at this sad time. Sorry we are not there in person, but send love.

To the Moores Family
There is no one in the world that loves you like your mother. Be comforted by your memories and the family life that you all shared. Jean & Tom rented an apartment in our house from the day they were married. Cynthia, David and Donald were born while living here. I became very close to all of them and I loved my time babysitting them while living in our house and after they moved. Cynthia was our flower girl when we were married. Unfortunately, I never got to know Wayne and Nancy in the same way as we have been living in Ontario since they were born. Your mother will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will live on in all of you and never be forgotten. On behalf of the Penney Family, my brother David Penney, and sister Glenys (Gordon) Drodge, we send our love, prayers and heartfelt sympathy.
Kathryn (Kay) and Bill Babstock

A truly beautiful lady, inside and out. Sending heartfelt condolences to all of the family. Thinking of you all and sending our love.
