Just seeing the obituary as a right to express my sincere condolences on behalf of Barb, and I. John was as you know, a unique person as uniqueness embeds him in your memories. Unfortunately, we are out of the province, and will not be returning till the end of April. I would very much appreciate it if you would pass on our condolences to his children and of course yourself.

May he rest in peace.

Barbara and Denis Barry.

Margo and Family
So sorry for your loss. I only met John on a few occasions but l appreciated his unique sense of humour!

Remember and treasure all of the happy times that you shared together. These memories will help you to navigate the days and weeks ahead. God bless

Dear Margo and Anne,
I deeply miss the days when John and my Dad, Angus, shared stories and interests at A&W. John has always held a special place in my heart for his unencumbered zeal for following his passions. But even better was his willingness or even enthusiasm for sharing the often amusing missteps or downright disasters. But I saw this as good natured, genuine modesty. He had such original thinking and ingenuity, had so many successes, that he didn’t feel a need or desire to dwell on them.
My sincere condolences to you. I hope you might reach out if there is anything I might do to help honor John and his legacy. He meant a great deal to me.
Steve

My condolences to John’s family. I worked at MUN Technical Services for 34 years and I worked with John on many of his interesting and diverse research projects. He had an intelligent and clever mind. Whenever I would encounter him after I retired we would always have great chats. RIP John.

Dear Margo:
I only had the pleasure of chatting with John a few times ……… but I always came away thinking of him as a kindred spirit! My sincere condolences to you and family.

My condolences to John’s family I met John back in the early 1990s when I was preparing my Masters thesis. I needed some sort of graphics software to map my study area. John indicated that he had such a program and offered its use to me. He provided me a key to his office so that I could access his MiniCad software whenever. I wished. Anyway, that gesture by John has always meant so much to me. A very kind man with so many original thoughts and ideas.

Rest in peace Mr Evans

Sending sincere condolences to you Margo, Anne and Jane. He was such a gentle soul, interesting and interested. Always loved visiting and hearing his stories and watching him making his puzzles. A life well lived. I will miss him. All my love, Karla

My deepest condolences to John’s family. I was fortunate to have John as a professor back in the mid to late 1980’s during my Biology studies at Memorial University. He showed me that my interest was not in pure biology but rather applied biology. This realization helped me immensely in finding my “niche” and served me well during my 31 year career with DFO. Rest easy John and God speed.
