Josephine Lucas passed away peacefully on Saturday March 30th, after a short illness at the age of 84 years old. She was accompanied in her transition by her daughter Kimberly.
Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Mary Lilly (Mills) Richardson; husband Bill Lucas (6.30.1982), her infant twins (6.30.1977), sisters; Marie Belmore, Nancy Harris, Joan McDaniel, Maureen Power, Patricia Blomster, brother Gerald Richardson and her incredible friend Karen Ryan.
Josephine leaves a wealth of memories to her daughter Kimberly Lucas, sister Dorothy Holwell, brother, Bernard Richardson, favourite and only grandson Willem Lucas and his wife Mikayla Walsh. Josephine leaves to mourn many family members, in-laws and friends, her sisters in law and favourite coworkers, Gail, Linda and Joyce, along with many nieces and nephews here in St. John’s, in Ontario and in the United States.
Josephine left an indelible mark on every person she met. She was quirky and kind with a love for frogs, polar bears and all animals. Her humour and vibrant personality were a constant and only matched by her love for her pets throughout her life. She had an immense heart for her dogs (Sammy, Fluffy, Rovette, Mr. Bear and Eddie), her very special cat Snowy and her “late in life” cat friend Squishie.
The family extends thanks to Community Health Nurse Wanda Glover, Casey Price & the entire Community Paramedicine team and Dr. Marie O’Dea from the Palliative Care Unit along with many other incredible health professionals that supported Josephine.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Josephine’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marguerite’s Place (https://sjswc.ca/marguerites-place)
