It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Katie Hynes on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
Katie was a beautiful individual who was a free spirit and enjoyed life. Her greatest accomplishment was her beautiful daughter Charlotte whom she loved and adored beyond measure.
Katie will be lovingly remembered by her Daughter Charlotte; Identical Twin Sister Kayla Hynes (Adrian Samson); Mother Lori Hynes (Derrick Greeley); Sister Kaylee Greeley; Nieces Gemma and Rilee Samson; Father Thomas Blake (Amanda); Brothers: Michael Earle (Denise) and Dillon Blake (Adara); Niece Lily; Grandparents David and Alma Hynes; Viola and Sidney Blake (deceased); Uncles Sean (Dana) Hynes; Leon (Jolene) Hynes; Michael Blake (Ruth); Aunts Angela Blake; Hilary Blake (Mark); Cousins, Members of the Greeley Family, and other family members and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, August 12, 11:00-12:00 noon. Funeral Service will take place at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Twillingate, on Friday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. Because of Covid 19 regulations service will be by invitation only. Committal will follow at Ragged Point Pentecostal Cemetery.
No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to the family.

I can’t believe it’s been 2 1/2 years. I was Katie’s next door neighbor and friend. We spent snowmageddon together, helping each other through it. Then we spent the Covid lockdown together supporting each other through that difficult time when we couldn’t see our families. I think about Kayla, Charlotte and her mom a lot. So sorry what you’ve gone through. Katie was an incredible human being, we hit it off right away. She started calling me “best friend” after a while instead of Dion. It was adorable. I remember her laugh, so full, joyous and distinct. I can’t hear Meghan Trainor without thinking about her, can’t see dill pickle chips without her crossing my mind. I loved her dearly. I hope the family is doing well. Much love to everyone and please give Charlotte a hug for me..

So shocked and saddened by Katie’s passing. I used to love to go to Tapper’s and have long chats about anything and everything. My first thought was sadness and then of her daughter which she always talked about. Fly with the Angels, Katie.

This message is so hard to write because katie was like one of our own..katie and kayla grew up with all the kids on the point and had great times and many memories together.
To hear the news that she had passed so tragically broke our hearts..there are no words to ease your suffering and pain since this has happened but i want you to know we are thinking of you all and are here for you always..

Katie was such a good childhood friend. We grew apart as the years went on, but always such a friendly face to see around. I hold a lot of dear childhood memories with Katie, playing in the backyard, sliding, riding our bikes, getting Mom to iron our hair for the first day of school.. She’s there for all of them. Mom always thought the absolute world of the girls and I know she would be dumbfounded, just as we are, by this. All our love, thoughts and prayers with you during this impossible time.

I’ve known Katie for about 12 years. We partied together, worked together at sobeys and did A LOT of laughing. We would always talk in a weird ass accent and people would look at us funny but, who cares, we were laughing. We weren’t close at this very moment, but it was always a riot when I managed to bump into her somewhere. My sincere condolences to her entire family, especially Kayla and her daughter. This tragedy truly ripples through the town and I am sososo sorry.
I can’t imagine a life without your laughter.. you really made every moment we had together special. I am going to miss you every day my sweet friend. I love you.
