Obituary

Passed peacefully away in the presence of family at 99 years of age.

Predeceased by husband Wallace. Lovingly remembered and greatly missed by son Brain (Marilyn); grandchildren Laurel (Greg), Forrest (Jessica), and Erin (Matthew); and greatgrandchildren Alexander, Kathryn, Farrah, and Griffen.

Marion was born in Belleoram, NL and pursued a career in early childhood education. She would go on to teach in several Newfoundland communities including St. John’s, where she was an elementary school teacher at Curtis, MacPherson and St. Andrew’s for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading, and was a lover of children and dogs. She travelled widely throughout North America and, with her late husband, often ventured further afield to countries in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.

She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother, who loved doing what she could for her family.

Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, October 31, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m.

Special thanks to the staff of Lanes Retirement Home, Airport Heights, for their care and support.

May God Bless you and all those you love.

Laurel, I am so sorry for you and your families loss. Prayers to your family at this time. I know how much your Grandma meant to you.

On behalf of Laurel ‘s good friend I am writing to let everyone know what a great grandma Laurel had and will remember her as a great woman and an accomplished woman who meant the world to Laurel. Laurel has always said how special her grandma was and she meant the world to Laurel and didn’t know how she could live without her nan. I hope you all have peace and comfort in your hearts knowing, she loved you all. My condolences Monica.

Nan,
You will be sorely missed! Though we may be far, you were always near to our hearts!!! ❤️ I will forever hold dear the time we shared and the trips and experiences we shared. Thank you for being such a strong support system for Laurel and instilling many of the wonderful qualities she possesses. Though the phone conversations have dwindled the last few years I will never forget them and how they went…1. How are the doggies? 2. How is the weather in Arizona? (Sunny and blue skies)…Oh my, well it has been just miserable here, wet snow and I haven’t left the house in 2 weeks! 3. So, how are the doggies? 4. Take care of Laurel for me she is my eldest granddaughter 5. How are the doggies? 🤣🤣🤣 The doggies are good and we will push on, say hi to gramps for Laurel, we’ll see you again since you always told Laurel I am an angel and have wings. When I turned 40 and you were turning 90 a few days later you were bragging how you were more than twice my age, I replied that was okay, I was gaining on you because I would turn 50 a few days before your hundredth…was truly hoping to have been able to share the moment together. We love you and will miss you along with the rest of the family.

Brian and family,
So sorry to hear of your Mom and Grandmothers passing..
Our deepest condolences.
