Mary Ellen Sturge (affectionately known as “Aunt May”)
February 15th, 1923 to December 21, 2022
It is with a sad and heavy heart that the family of Mary Ellen Sturge, announce her passing from this life, into the arms of Jesus. Aunt May passed peacefully away, at St. Patrick’s Mercy home, on December 21st, 2022.

Aunt May was a strong woman of faith, and God was the center of her world. She loved her family, she was very devoted to her church, Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle. Psalm 23 was her favorite scripture.

She is predeceased by her husband Peter Sturge, Mother, Elisabeth (Kearly), and Father, Henry Martin, siblings Herb Martin, Bill Martin, Isabel Anthony, and Sarah Carter. Also predeceased by niece Barbara Ann Halley (nee Anthony), and nephew, Robert W. Carter. Leaving to mourn and cherish her memories, her precious nieces, Daphne Rentz, Deanna O’Reilly, Judy Lundrigan, Cindy Carter, and nephew Charles Carter as well as all of their families.

A special thank you to the 3rd floor staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy home for their exceptional care.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Rd, St. Johns, NL., visitation is scheduled for December 29th, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Funeral to take place at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle, Kenmount Rd. St. John’s on Friday December 30th/2022. Interment to follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery.

Flowers are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory, to Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle Or the Gideon’s.

With heavy hearts, hearing this news, wonderful memories, cherished visits, never to be forgotten, Christmas gifts to all niece’s and nephew’s, first and second, loved by all. Your kindness and love will never be forgotten. Maureen, Beverley, Gaye, Lana and extended family.

Condolences to Mary’s family. Mary was a sweet lady who enjoyed a good laugh. I enjoyed giving her a ride to and from Church and visiting with her in the home. She was a pleasure to be around.

To Judy & the rest of the family. We were saddened to learn of Mary’s passing. She was always so kind & always smiling! May you feel the Lord’s comforting arms around you during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences to the family.

Sending condolences to May’s family.. I remember many family get togethers with my mom Isabel Pike with May,Isabel and Sadie. Such great memories. May was always so pleasant and up for a good laugh. Sadie May and I would go on little outings. I loved being in her company. So upllifting. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. I remember her well when I attended Elim Tabernacle. Mary and Peter always sat on the right hand side. She was a wonderful christian lady. I look forward to seeing her again and having a chat on resurrection morning. Oh what a day that will be. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
