We lost a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mary May Butler on Friday April 5th, 2024 of St. John’s, formerly of English Harbour West, age 94 years.

Predeceased by her husband, Gordon; children, Lela and Roger; grandson Darrell.

She is survived by her children Eric (Betty), William (Marjorie) and Charles; sister Emily; plus, grandchildren Erica (Mark), Tammy, Christopher (Georgina), Jason (Amanda), Kurtis, and Kevin (Gill); greatgrandchildren Megan, Sean, George, Zachery, Mark and Joshua; also, a large circle of friends and other relatives.

Special thanks to Dr. Kieley, Dr. Coleman, the S. A. Glenbrook Lodge and all who helped with Mom’s care these last few months.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th.

Funeral service on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

 

Her family was the center of her life and world, and she treated all with pride and unconditional love, that will be missed.

I met Mary late in life but immediately fell in love with her. She was kind and welcoming, with a wonderful sassy side and I will miss visiting with her.

Mary was such a wonderful person – kind, loving, inquisitive and quick witted. I will really miss our weekly calls and loved visiting her when we were in St. John’s. Our deepest condolences go out to her extended family.

What a wonderful life aunt Mary had . She enjoyed her family and friends . all her wishes came true and she is at peace now . I will miss visiting her !.
