Obituary

On Saturday, July 15th, Maxine Vivian, née Titford, passed away, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 92. Retired Associate Professor of Science, Memorial University.

Predeceased by her husband of 69 years Cecil R. Vivian (August 2020), brother William Titford Jr., brother-in-law Frederick Vivian and sister-in-law Mabel McRoy.  Much beloved and dearly missed by her children Beverley (Don Lane), David and Jim (Ruth Slater); her grandchildren Melissa and Nicholas Lane (Stephanie Daley), Joshua Vivian (Victoria Preston-Walker), Bren Slater (Angel Williams), Alexandra Vivian (Gerard Mercer) and Marcus Vivian (Brittany Storsater), as well as her great-granddaughters Tessa and Brea Vivian and Rory Lane. Also left with fond memories are her sisters-in-law June Titford and Eva Vivian, her cousins Sandra McKnight and Barbara Horwood, and her many nieces and nephews of the Vivian, Titford and McRoy families.

We wish to express our deep appreciation to the staff of Tiffany Village Retirement Community for their excellent care and support of our parents and our family over the past seven years, with special recognition of Dr. Amanda Coleman. It really does take a village!!

At her request cremation and committal have taken place. As COVID protocols precluded a memorial service for Cec in the summer of 2020, we now celebrate them together as the devoted sweethearts they always were. The family will receive visitors at Tiffany Village, 50 Tiffany Court, on Wednesday, July 26th, from 2:00 – 4:30 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 27th at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Military Road.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to assist homeless, hungry and marginalized members of our community.

Beverley and family,
I was so sorry to read of your moms recent passing…I always enjoyed chatting with her and your dad when they would visit Auntie Olive at St Lukes or getting groceries at Belbins…….thinking of you at this sad time.

My sincere sympathy to the Vivian family,

I recall Maxine from several visits to her home at the invitation of Cec with whom I was associated with for many years at Nf.d. Power.
