Obituary

Myrtle Pardy, of Catalina, passed peacefully away at the Chancellor Park retirement home in St. John’s NL on Oct 15, 2023 at the age of 89 years. Myrtle was the second child of Brigadiers George and Dorothy Wheeler of the Salvation Army and was born in Buchans NL, from where she moved to many communities throughout Newfoundland with her parents and siblings. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend William (Bill) Pardy on June 12th, 2017, baby son Gerald (1957) and older sister Marion (Tilley) April 13th, 2023. Left with fond and loving memories are her two sons Melvin (Peg) and Craig (Mary Larner) and five much loved grandchildren: Katie (Warren Tedrick), Jonathan, Mykala, Mary Catherine and Noah and her great grandchild Maggie Tedrick. Myrtle leaves behind a sister Ferne (Clay Iles), brothers Lorne (Rose) and Melvin (Marjorie). Myrtle was a strong proponent of education and impressed upon her family the importance of it. She was a longtime dedicated employee of S. W. Mifflin Ltd. in Catalina. She was a Choir director of both senior and junior choirs for Bethany United Church in Catalina. She was a sought after soloist by Rev. Dr. Barrett, Rev. A.S. Butt and Rev. Reynolds who gladly used her talent quite often. Through music, Myrtle touched many young people’s lives and many today remember her for that purpose. She was a proud member of the United Church Women’s Association, and will be forever remembered for her tasty Lemon meringue pies.

 

Donations in her memory can be made to Bethany United Church, Catalina. Funeral services will take place at a later date and an inurnment will be at the Bethany United Church Cemetery, Catalina.

Sincere and heartfelt Comdolances to Melvin , Craig and all family on the passing of your dear loved one . I have many fond memories of working with Myrtle in our earlier life. We also attended the same church where she was Very active choir member… Leading the junior choir many years,always keeping the music interesting and enjoyable for the young juniors and the congregation . Rip dear friend.
