It is with profound sadness that we announce Neil’s passing after a short courageous battle with cancer.  Neil passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on September 10, 2023 with his family by his side.

Predeceased by his parents John and Marguerite Murphy, his brother Sylvester Murphy and his parents-in-law Douglas and Jean Moore.

Neil leaves to mourn his loving wife of 37 years, Lisa, and his devoted son Mark (Kayla Buckingham), whom he loved and adored; his siblings, John (Margaret), Tom, Jim (Diane), Andrew, Joe (Mary), Myles, Brian (Josie), Marguerite Kaye (Leonard), Jean Murphy (Dave), Bernadette Chalker (Dan Owens) and Louise Husk (Paul); siblings-in-law, Garry Moore (Bev), Keith Moore (Linda), Scott Moore, Ian Moore (Allison) and Heather Sharpe (Wayne).

Also leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including his friends and co-workers from the St. John’s city council where Neil retired in 2022 after many years of service.

The  family will be accepting visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home at 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday September 14 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of life will be held in Carnell’s Memorial Chapel on Friday September 15 at 11am. Please note that Carnell’s is a nut free building, due to a staff member with a severe allergy.
