Obituary
Pauline was born on a beautiful starry night in Maple Ridge, BC. In her 26th year, she suddenly passed away at her residence in Mount Pearl, NL. Predeceased by her grandmother and namesake, Pauline Hope Mercer, Bay Robert’s, NL. Leaving with loving memories to celebrate her life are Mom, Shelley Mercer, Winnipeg, MB. (Formerly from Bay Robert’s); Uncle Scott, Aunt Tanya; cousins, Mason and Claire Mercer, Paradise, NL; grandparents Malcolm and Gloria Mercer, St John’s, NL; great Aunt Linda and Uncle Ray Barrett, Upper Island Cove, NL; Special “Dad” Bernard Shannahan, St. John’s, NL, and a large loving circle of family and friends. Pauline will always be remembered as a fantastic visual artist and creative soul with many life passions. She was a lover of gaming, music, books, fun and adventure. Cremation has taken place, and interment to be held at a later date. To honour her memory it is asked of you to take a walk in the fresh salt air, enjoy a favourite hobby or eat a most delicious cookie. Her heartwarming laugh will forever be missed by all who truly loved her.
It is not for us to understand now but one day we will know it all.

Dear Shelley,
After I spoke to you here at Chez-Nous, while feeding the wild birds, I have these thoughts I wish to share with you:
Life is a journey, a stepping stone to the eternal realm. It’s a simple place to rest and reflect, a pebble in the path before we reach our Lord. We all face challenges and obstacles along the way, but we must remember that we were never meant to remain here forever. We will fetch a crumb from the path, and it’s up to us to choose whether to follow the truth. So let’s make the most of our time here and keep moving towards our ultimate destination; love for each other.
May the angels lead your daughter Pauline into Paradise.

I’ve known since you were a little girl. We always had a lot of fun together playing tag and games when you were little and you also brought the kid out in me. I love you and miss you so very much.

Goodbye my old friend. Words can’t describe how shocked I was when I heard the news that you were gone. I hope we get to meet again someday and play some more atmosphere and have our dorky talks at the bus stop on the way to school. Goodbye my childhood friend. You’ll be very missed.

Myself and my husband Kevin were their landlords in Mount Pearl up until November of 2022. To hear she had passed away was hard to process as my husband has been with her just days before for a coffee. Our deepest and sincere condolences to the family and may she rest in peace.
