Pearl Jean Rumbolt

March 3, 1949 to September 13, 2023

Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jean (Pearl) Rumbolt announce her passing on September 13, 2023, at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s NL, age 74 years.

Jean was born in Port Hope Simpson on March 3, 1949, and proud to be raised in George’s Cove. She was a very quiet woman but loved to joke and carry on til her very last day. She spent most of her time knitting and in the kitchen cooking and baking.  She enjoyed her years working in the crab plant until her retirement, in Mary’s Harbour where she had many great friends. She met her husband Claude in 1968 when he went to Port Hope Simpson teaching and they married in 1971, from there they grew their family that she so dearly loved.

Predeceased by parents John and Amelia Burden (Kippenhuck); brother Raymond Burden and sister Betty Moss, as well as nephew, Raymond Turnbull.

Left to mourn her loving husband, Claude Rumbolt; sons Jamie (Pamela) and Toby (Holly); granddaughters: Kiana Rumbolt, Keisha Rumbolt, Danielle Rumbolt, Megan Rumbolt; sisters: Rita Coish (Scott), Clara House, Fannie Turnbull and Eva Penney; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all her family and friends.

Funeral details to come when they have been decided.

Claude and family,
So sorry to hear of Jean’s passing. My condolences to you and your family. Jean was a wonderful person. She was a woman of few words. Nonetheless, she had a quiet strength.
I still fondly remember when your family was our neighbours out on Taylors.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
