Phillip Saunders Lane

September 12, 1952 to July 14, 2023

Obituary

Phillip was generous of spirit and of himself. He never turned away anyone who needed anything of him. He loved to laugh and especially loved his cabin in Brigus Junction.
He could build anything, cook anything, and could talk on any subject. He was cherished by his many friends and his love for his family was unconditional. His heart was big enough to raise two stepdaughters, who loved him fiercely.

Phillip’s battle with cancer was courageous and he remained hopeful to the end.
God places us here on earth for a short time. It is the kindness, empathy and compassion we show others that makes our time here meaningful, and Phillip lived his life with those values. He had a sign posted at his office that read; 88% of life is showing up. Phillip showed up 100%.

He was blessed with a beautiful spirit and a mind that took him from the seal hunt to manager at Bell Aliant. It was his many acts of kindness and guidance that will remain a beacon of light that will brighten the dark days and we will miss the most.

Phillip, a son, brother, husband, father, stepfather, poppy, uncle, cousin, and friend, will not be forgotten, and will be loved forever by everyone who remembers.

Predeceased by and reunited with;
Father – Nelson Lane
Mother – Shelia Lane
Sister – Leslie Sanderson

Victoria, Chris, Elizabeth and Kyle and I were so sorry to hear of Phil’s passing.  Although we have not gotten together in quite a number of years, Phil became my brother in law in 1977 and we ‘hit it off’ from the very start – we had a great relationship. He was a very sweet person who was always willing to lend an ear when I needed and was a great uncle as well.  Victoria and Chris, and Colin and Melanie were close cousins and played together as children.

Phillip, we visited your house often. You and Janet took us camping when Elizabeth was just a baby.  You always welcomed us. We have always remembered that and we have always appreciated it.

So long my friend. No more pain and suffering. You are in a better place now.

Bev
