To Paul, Catherine and families,
To have known your mother was an honour, privilege and a true blessing. I met your mother when we were both nurses working in the Emergency Department at James Patton Hospital Gander, Newfoundland. Your father would come to drive us home after our shift was finished at the hospital. They would sing top high all the way home down Memorial Avenue. I couldn’t carry a tune – perhaps that’s why they always put me in the backseat! Every year at Christmas time she would send us a Christmas parcel – all the fixings (including a new puddin’ bag) so we could have a Jiggs dinner up along. She would call to insure we received her parcel then proceed with precise directions on how a “Mainlander” is to build it. She also included two small bottles of Newfie Screech so the meal would be complete. We always told her that gift was so perfect – always fit just right. I spoke to your Mother just after she moved from Tiffany Court. She wasn’t sure about the move however I assured her she would bring sunshine no matter where she was. I enjoyed her many antics. She was a hout and had such a special way. She loved laughter and shared it with all around her. I have so many beautiful memories that I know will keep me and I know you strong with love.

Thinking of you all with love,

To Paul, Catherine and family,
Lots of memories of our days living in Gander. Although I haven’t seen Phyllis for many years I always had news of her while Mrs. Cheeks was living. Our prayers and sympathy are with you at this time.
Dave and I are living in Kingston now where we moved to be close to Brenda.

Paul and Catherine,

So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I last saw her a few year’s ago when I was in St. John’s shopping. I am a cousin to your mother and babysat you both when your father was at Gower Street Church. Your mother was a wonderful person and always had that beautiful smile. May happy memories comfort you at this time. God bless you both.

To the Family;

Paul and Catherine,
Sometimes when the life of someone we love has many years we make the assumption they will be with us forever, Indeed, in the case of your mother many would have wished just that. Her’s was a life well lived. She had such a warm personality, and that ‘something’ which always seemed to make her stand out. She was thoughtful, wise, and caring in her dealings with others, the very soul of kindness and hospitality. Her long years of experience and service in nursing shone through her actions and her attitude. As you give thanks for her life and love, please accept our sincere condolences.
