It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Raymond A. Hart (79) of Mount Pearl after being surrounded by his family in the CVICU at the HSC on January 16, 2024.

Leaving to mourn are his wife, Nellie, and daughters Rhonda Maher (Mike) of Gander and Rayleen Hogan (Tom) of Mount Pearl. Three grandsons Jordan Maher, Jared and Jesse Hogan. Sister Cynthia, brothers George (Shirley) and Duncan (Gail). Sister-in-law: Linda Murray (Edward), brothers-in-law: Bruce Wilkins (Michelle) and Melvin Garland (Judy). Nieces: Colette, Jennifer, Amanda, and Laura. Nephews: Scott, Craig, Duncan Jr., and Chris. Also leaving to mourn is a large circle of family and friends.

After retiring in 2007, Ray went on to fully enjoy life at his cabin, many trips to the Florida sun, playing the accordion with his music buddies, and creating lasting memories that focused on the importance of family. He will be missed dearly and fondly remembered by many.

Cremation has taken place, and a live-streamed funeral service will take place from Carnell’s Funeral Home on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. An announcement of a Celebration of Life ceremony will take place within the following weeks.

May he R.I.P.

Quietly, one day 3 or 4 years ago, a man appeared at our Manuels music session, with two button accordions. who, when it was his turn to play, had to be coaxed to play somewhat louder. Even then it was difficult to hear him. Such was the man. His very nature was quiet, yet over the next few weeks we discovered that when he played, he had a really fine way of making everyone want to join in with him. And so we gradually got to know Ray Hart. After these short years we all came to appreciate and enjoy him and he certainly showed he was as fine a musician as any with the accordion. We all were shocked to learn that his “routine ” hospital visit was to be the last time he could join us.
May we offer our condolences to Nell and her family on your loss, and may God’s Blessings go with you!

Dear Nellie and Family and the extended Families. My deepest Condolences on the passing of Ray. A Gentleman of the first order I met almost 60 years ago.. May all your great memories be a blessing during this most difficult time, God Bless.
