Obituary

It is with a deep sadness in our hearts that the family of Ronald Mackey announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his devoted family, at the Health Sciences ICU on Tuesday October 4, 2023. Pre-deceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruby Mackey in July 2021, his parents Leo and Mary Mackey, brothers Frank and Leo and his Aunt Margaret. Leaving to mourn are his daughter Wanda Smith (Dave), son Jeff Mackey (Krista) his loving grandchildren Stephanie, Courtney, Sarah, Daniella and Michael and his two step grandchildren Kaylee and Kamron. Also, left with many years of memories are his siblings Bob Mackey (Lois), Gel Mackey (Cathy), Bill Mackey (Rose), Gertrude Clark and Brenda Rogers (Ed) and a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers in law.

A heartfelt thank you all the staff and doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences emergency department and ICU, who provided the utmost professional and warmest care to dad during his very short stay there. Words cannot express the kindness and compassion that was shown to dad and our family during a very difficult time for us and we are forever grateful for all that was done for him.

Cremation has taken place through Carnell’s Funeral Home, as per a longstanding request of dad’s, no visitation or service is to take place. A small gathering in dad’s honour is planned for family and friends the weekend of October 15th in remembrance and celebration of his life.

We are really going to miss you dad but we know you are in a good place now, right there with mom up above and you will both be watching over us all and keeping us safe and will be in our hearts forever.

“Rest peacefully now and be free as you have been called home to stay”
