Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald (Ron) Sullivan announces his passing at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s on December 14th, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

He was predeceased by parents Henry and Maisie, sisters Blanche (Percival) Nagle, Catherine (Chesley) Hardiman, and twin sister Mary Ann (Clifford) Bailey and brothers Kenneth, Gordon and Chesley Sullivan.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted wife of 58 years, Thelma, son Gary (Judy Spurrell) grand daughters Andrea and Ashley, step granddaughters Jessica and Brianna Cuff. Brothers-in-law, Carmen (Rhoda) Bailey & Ken (Cindy) Bailey, and many nieces and nephews whom he also loved dearly. He will also be missed by many close friends.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Funeral Service to take place on Tuesday December 20, 2022, at 11 a.m. from the St. Philip’s Anglican Church.  Interment to follow at the St. Philip’s Anglican Cemetery.

Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to a charity of one’s choice.

So sorry to hear of Ronnie’s passing.. We attended school at Pouch Cove during the 1950’s. He was everyone’s favourite friend. Ronnie had a personality as big as all outdoors.. Their friendship started many years ago at Creative Printers and they kept in touch all their lives. The last time we saw Ronnie was 7 years ago at dads funeral. To the Sullivan Family, We were lucky to have met Ron when we started going to A&W for Saturday morning breakfast, probably 30 years ago. Ronnie was part of the “breakfast club” and he always took the time to speak to us and always had a funny story. He will be missed. We will raise a cup in his honour.

We are so sorry to hear of Ronnie’s passing… Ronnie worked with my father, Dan Hood, at Creative Printers. When I was a young girl, he often came to our house to do some jobs. We all lloved to see him come, he was always pleasant and very entertaining. . He gave us lots of laughs.. My husband met him through me and they always had good conversations and shared lots of laughs. The last time we were talking to him was at Costco about six months ago and as usual gave us a few laughs. I have very fond memories of Rod.
When my son was small we would drop into the store on the way home. He always gave him candy or bars and occasionally a dinky. He’s 34 now and every time I’d see him he’d ask how my son was doing. It was always a pleasure having a chat with him. He was such a kind soul. May he rest in peace.
