Ruth Noseworthy Green

November 25, 1948 to September 16, 2023

Obituary

It is with the  heaviest of  hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Ruth Noseworthy Green, on September 16, 2023. Surrounded by her husband, Gary, and her children Jonathan, Jennifer, and Aaron. Ruth also leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends.

Ruth had many accomplishments in various roles over the course of her life.  However, she always felt her most  important roles were that of mother, grandmother and wife.  She was exceptionally devoted to her family and always made them her priority.  We were so fortunate to have such an amazing woman behind us every step of the way.

Ruth had many passions and was a strong advocate for the causes she believed in. She volunteered her time and talents freely to help those in need and was part of many community organizations and projects.  Among the activities she felt were the most important were her Christmas visits as Mrs. Claus to children, seniors, and especially patients in the Palliative Care Unit.

Ruth was a talented mat maker and her hooked mats captured Newfoundland and Labrador past and present especially as it related to her connections to places throughout the Province. She was a member of the music/mummers troupe “The Mummers and Paupers” since it’s inception and performed for the Christmas Wassail, Mummers Festival and other public and private events. She was so proud to be a part of the folk arts community.

A special thank you to her medical care team including Doctors Dwyer, Butler, Genge, Aseer and Pratt; the nurses and all the support staff of Seven East at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and the Dr. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.

Cremation has already taken place.  A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a date to be announced later.

Donations in Ruth’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit’s Cuddle Bed Project. Please click here for the link.

Dear Gary,

Our thoughts go out to you over the passing of your wonderful wife Ruth. We had the opportunity to spend time with her at many Vinland music camps and loved to hear about your and her antics. At the most recent camp in August, despite her illness we felt so lucky in being able to once more tell stories and laugh together. She was an amazing lady and we will miss her

To Ruth’s Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of meeting Ruth when she came in to my classroom to share her knowledge of Medieval Times. Our Knights and Castles unit in Grade Three was always enhanced when Ruth brought all her beautiful medieval costumes for the children to dress up in and then they learned the art of brass rubbings. She had a beautiful way with the children.
May all your wonderful memories of Ruth help you through the difficult weeks and months ahead.

I was so sorry to hear that Ruth has passed. I first met her when I started working at the Engineering Dept. at Memorial. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I worked with her over a couple of years. We had many great laughs in that office thanks to Ruth. Our paths crossed again many years later at Vinland Music Camp, where it was quite clear Ruth hadn’t changed a bit over 40 odd years and was still the same funny, kind and loving person she always was. My condolences to Gary and all the family on the loss of the wonderful spirit of this lovely lady.. Mary Abbass
