I last saw Shirley at the home about a month ago . I knew she was ending her earthly journey, but I touched her hand and spoke to her. Her eyes opened and she gave me a big smile. She was a special lady. We spent many happy and some sad times together when I served in Pouch Cove. Her unbounding energy and pleasant personality were infectious. Whatever was going on she was part of it in some way. A special memory is of a time when our church hall was being built. One day she and I decided to make lunch for the workers on the hall. I brought a pot of stew and she brought homemade lemon meringue pie. We had a grand time serving lunch to the men. I took a picture of her, it is included, I believe with other pictures of the hall construction. Shirley was one of the most faithful members of All Saints Church. I shall always treasure her memory. Deepest sympathy to all Shirley’s loved ones. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Sincerely, former Rector Canon Shirley and Charlie Gosse,

So sad to hear of Shirley’s passing. We have fond memories of spending time at her house when we were teenagers. We also enjoyed spending time with her as part of the Pouch Cove Heritage Society. She was a wonderful member and age certainly didn’t hold her back as was evident when she was doing the Lancers at age 92. Our sincere condolences to Kermit, Llewellyn and Audrey..

Kermit, Llewelyn, Audrey & families:
My mother, Lillian (Williams) Hudson often attended All Saints Anglican and when I was visiting her, I often tagged along.
On one occasion while searching for a Hymn Book, I felt a little tap on my back. When I turned around here was Shirley, a big smile on her face, holding out her book to me. So we sang together! When the Hymn was over, she looked at me, gave me a hug, and said, “Thanks for sharing”.
I thought what an awesome woman!
That’s my favourite memory of Shirley.
She made my day.
