Obituary

Stewart (Stu) Yetman, age 83, of St. John’s passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on September 3, 2021, at Pleasant View Towers from a lengthy battle of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Predeceased by his parents Stewart and Evelyn Yetman; daughter Donna; grandson Peter Kelsey Jr; siblings Pamela and Doug Yetman; sister-in-law Bride; and brother-in-law Alex Street.

Leaving to mourn his devoted wife Shirley of 59 years; his children Don, Lisa Kelsey (Peter), Debra Murphy (Albert); his 3 granddaughters Sarah, Rebecca, Leah; and his siblings Alex (June), Chuck (Diane), Hilda, Rose, and a large circle of family and friends.

Stewart was a dedicated employee with Memorial University/Health Science Centre for many years, and was known as a hard worker and a man who could fix about anything. He loved his cabin in Deer Park, where he enjoyed fishing, water skiing, swimming, and evenings by the fire with family and friends.

Shirley and family would like to thank Pleasant View Towers, 1 South West for their heartfelt patience, and compassionate support that they gave Stewart, as it was the teams that know and saw Shirley everyday when visiting her husband – even snowmageddon didn’t keep her away. Thank you to housekeeping, recreation, all kitchen staff, custodians, doctors, security, all various nurses, and Shirley’s “Group of Lady Friends” and family who chatted many evenings on the phone, who still phone today supporting each other. Special thank you to Shirley’s niece Holly Doyle and cousin Yvonne McGrath.

Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.
