With great sorrow we, the Lado family, announce the sudden passing of our daughter Suzan Lado at the age of 20 years.
Suzan was born on May 1, 2001 in Khartoum, Sudan and passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2021 in St. John’s, NL.
Suzan graduated from Holy Heart of Mary High School in the class of 2019 and was planning on joining college this September.
Suzan had endured so many trips to the hospital for treatment throughout her entire life, but each time she was hospitalized she showed us her resilience and toughness. She had battled with sickle cell anemia to the end. As a result, Suzan had inspired so many people who knew about her story.
Our family would like to send a special Thank you to the staff of the Janeway hospital for their kindness and care received during Suzan’s stay in the hospital.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road (at Crosbie Road) on Wednesday August 18, 2021 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
Also, a celebration of life ceremony will be held at Carnell funeral home Memorial Chapel, on Thursday August 19, 2021 at 11:00 am, with interment to follow at the Anglican cemetery on Kenmount Road.
Flowers are gratefully accepted and donations to the Janeway Children’s hospital in Suzan’s honour is welcome.

I am so very saddened to hear of Suzan’s passing. I taught her math while she was a student at Holy Heart. She was such a quiet, respectful and beautiful young lady who had such a wonderful work ethic. I am sure she made you so proud. I will always remember the bright, sweet smile she would give me as she thanked me for answering her questions in class. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.
