Vina Paulette Collins (nee Cutler)

April 8, 1966 to April 8, 2024

Obituary

The family of Paulette (Cutler) Collins is sad to announce her peaceful passing at the Health Sciences Centre on April 8, 2024 at age 58 years. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Paulette was the third born child of Lucy and David Cutler of Centreville, NL. Baby sister to Lawrence and Donna, she completed their little family. She was raised in Centreville, where, in her late teens, she met her life partner, Ivan Collins. Together, they would make a life in Ontario. First Scarborough, then Holland
Landing, where they would raise their 3 sons, Nicholas, Tyler, and Tyson. Once the boys were grown, they made their trip back home to NL, making St. John’s home base, with almost weekly visits to Centreville. From there, they would often continue on to their happy place, Fair Island, or “in over the road” to the cabin. Both Paulette and Ivan always had a large circle of friends. She was always happiest when her house was full. They were never a couple that would “let grass grow
under their feet”. There was rarely a time when they weren’t busy renovating a house or cabin. October 2021, Nana’s little man, Casey was born. He was the light of her life. Paulette accepted whatever life threw at her. She was truly a “Graceful warrior”.

She was predeceased by her parents Lucy (Pickett) and David Cutler, brother Lawrence, and parents‐in‐law Ella and Lawrence Collins. Leaving to mourn, with fond, and loving memories, husband, Ivan, sons Nicholas (Raelene ‐ the daughter she never had), Tyler and Tyson, and grandson, Casey. Her sister Donna Snook (Wayne), and 3 special nieces, Laura, Myra, and Lacey. Many brother and sister‐in‐law’s, nieces and nephews, extended family, including her work family from Bird Stairs, and a large circle of close friends.

Thank you to the cardiac team and CCU staff, Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and care. Also, to Carnell’s Funeral Home for assisting at this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, April 13th from 1‐5pm at St. Barnabas Church in Centreville.

In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted and will be forwarded to a charitable organization previously support by Paulette.

Ivan and all the Family,

Words can’t express how saddened we were when we heard the news, heartbroken to say the least. She was an energetic, smart and the sweetest soul. She certainly made an impression here at Bird Stairs and every customer who had the pleasure of dealing with her. Her family meant everything and the way her eyes would light up talking about her boys and her “little man Casey” . Gonna miss here her talking about packing up the coolers every Fri and waiting on Ivan to pick her up. Can still here her shouting “Mama Mia Capatano” Bless her heart! xo

Sending condolences to Paulette’s family and friends. I know this will be a difficult time for you all, hold close the wonderful memories.
