Wayne A. Crane was born on August 19, 1956 in the Mundy Pond area of St. John’s, Newfoundland. As he got older, he traded playing down the lane and trouting with his brothers for sitting on the front step for a smoke and talking to his neighbours or hanging out with his buddy Sticker (Jim Fitzgerald).

His favourite things were his faith in God, making people laugh, sharing stories, working with his hands, vacuuming, spoiling his animals, tormenting people for fun and eating the same food over and over until he got sick of it. He hated crumbs, uncomfortable socks, funerals and how his children did the dishes. Funnily enough, his grandchildren could do no wrong. He could fix or build just about anything and spent years working as a carpenter.

Wayne passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024, after a short illness, with the love of his life and his daughters by his side. The family would like to thank the staff from the Health Sciences Centre Unit 5NorthA, especially Gill, Katelyn (‘Capelin’), Cherry, Sarah and Dr. Winsor.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents (Wallace and Alice), his sister-in-law (Janet) and other loved ones. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss him: his children (Holly, Sarah and Wayne) and their spouses; the love of his life Judy Guilfoyle (nee Winsor), with her daughter (Denise) and family; his grandchildren (Reid, Luke, Ellie, Jack, Matthew, Leah and Ryan); his siblings and their families (John, Gord, Wally, David, Bill, Joan, Glenys and Gerry); and his cats (Sadie and Simon – or Wayne’s Boy).

Wayne has chosen cremation. Visitation will occur at Carnell’s on Freshwater Road on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm. His service will be livestreamed from the Carnell Memorial Chapel and will occur at 11 am on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Before passing, Wayne requested that, in lieu of flowers, people should honour his memory by calling or visiting someone they haven’t seen in a long time.

My deepest condolences. Wayne and I became friends a few years ago. One of my fondest memories was when he taught me the Newfoundland saying, “Now take your time and hurry up.” Oh, did we ever laugh! My thoughts and prayers to the family. And to Wayne, I will honour your final wish by reaching out to someone I haven’t connected with in a long time and telling them they are loved and missed – just as you will be.

Glenys, Gord, Joan and family..

Sorry for your loss.

Our condolences to you and your family.

My condolences on your loss. I knew the family well! Great people.

Condolences to his family. While I had not seen Wayne for many, many years I always remembered him fondly. Wayne and I hitchhiked to Montral in 1977 and we ended up taking a detour through the USA through the state of Main, those were the days. I can still remember him and I trying out a Big Mac for the first time by the Montreal Forum LOL, I cant recall which of us enjoyed them more but we each ate three of them. Him and I went to the most incredible rock concert ever, Emerson, Lake and Palmer concert with 75,000 fans at the Olympic Stadium what a great night and a great memory. Wayne will always be remembered by me as a good guy and will undoubtedly be missed by everyone who knew him. RIP my friend.

So sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing.. We knew Wayne in the early years. He was also friends of my brothers Al and Ralph and worked from time to time with Al doing carpentry work. I had heard of him taking a nasty fall one time while working on a high building and actually hitting some wires and getting burned . He luckily survived all of that. Wayne was indeed a nice person. I was happy to read that he had a big family in life. Our condolences to all his loved ones and to all the Crane family. RIP Wayne.

To Wayne, Holly, Sarah and the Crane Family.
Sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. The Bible says in
2 Corinthians 5:8 “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
Pastor Gord and Louise Young

To Wayne & Marissa and family, we are sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

Sincerely
John and Annette Shea and family

We are so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. Myself and Shawna offer our heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew him and especially his children and their families. Sending healing prayers during this tough time.

My heartfelt condolences on your loss. RIP Wayne.

My deepest condolences going out to Wayne’s children and their families and to his siblings and their families. RIP Wayne

George and I are so sorry for your loss. Wayne lived with John and I many years ago as a young man. From what I knew of him, he was a good worker and a good carpenter, and I know he loved his children very much. Such a sin to lose him so young.

John & The Crane Family:
I am just reading that your brother passed away, our condolences to you and your family. Take Care.

SORRY ABOUT YOUE LOSS

I remember Wayne Crane very well; he worked on my dad’s van, Young’s Wholesale, years and years ago; he was very nice to all of us as I remember. Dad thought the world of Wayne too, he always talked very highly of him.

My heart goes out to his family.. I have only knew him a short time, but he made my sister, so happy prayers go out to his daughters and son, and all the rest of his family.
