Winnie was such a beautiful soul. You instantly felt welcome into her home. She was always offering a sandwich, cup of tea, a place to stay if the weather was stormy. She loved her family fiercely. I heard so many beautiful stories about you all. I loved to hear of her adventures when she went to visit her kids and grandkids. And her sister Louise was her best friend.

The world has lost a gem. We instantly became friends. It was never like work when I went to visit. It was just a visit to catch up. She will be sorely missed. And always fondly remembered. I hope they have a good game of bridge and delightful tea and cookies in Heaven. I know you are safely reunited with Jim, the love of your life. Godspeed my friend ♥️ I will miss your smile and laughter.

Jim and Maria,

So sorry to hear of Winnie’s passing! Your Mom was a class act all the way! Her smile was so unique and sincere, some people have that enthusiastic smile and it’s disingenuous but Winnie’s was all from the heart!

My Mom would always say to me “Winnie Carew is one of the nicest ladies around!”

Loved talking to Winnie when our paths crossed! Great lady!

God Bless Winnie!✝️🙏

Sincerest condolences from members of the Hickman family , on the loss of your Mom/ grandmother. Winnie worked with our Dad many years ago , and we remember her well , from occasional visits to the office, and during the annual Christmas visit when she was still “ Miss Bindon”,. She was always so nice to us, and Dad always spoke so highly of her . Condolences from my mother Nancy as well.
Sincerely

Heather Hickman

Jim, Maria, Goog and all the family:

We are thinking of you all during this sad time. Winnie was a great friend to our Mom (Carmel Walsh), and our aunt (Marie Brennan). We have many fond memories of card games, bridge, birthday parties and special events where all the ladies were dressed in high fashion. Winnie was so kind and caring to all of us Walsh’s and our families.

Anne, Sharon, Bill, Patti, Dorothy, David, Mary and Carmel Walsh and families.

Dear Louise and Winne’s children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews -on behalf of our family we extend our heartfelt sympathy to you all. Winnie was such a special person and a part of a wonderful group of lifelong friends that included our parents. I recall an afternoon tea at our mom, Maureen’s place in St Philip’s when ‘all the women ‘ came dressed to the nines looking so lovely and festive. When I commented on their stylist dressing up —Winnie’s response to me was “ It’s a lost art!” Wonderful memories

Sending my sincere condolences and love to you. My memories of your mom are full of all things good. She gave me my first job, trusting me to babysit her 2 adorable kids! She was always so welcoming and fun to chat with, from my teen years right on up to any visit I had back to Whiteway Street. I will always cherish these memories. The best neighbor. A very special lady.

Sending sincere condolences to the family. Winnie (or as we called her Mrs Carew) was the newcomer to our special neighbourhood of Whiteway St. And Bonaventure Avé. This young family was welcomed and was loved immediately. I took “little Jimmy” as my MUN project when studying early childhood education. He was a delight !! Jim and Winnie we special neighbours. May they RIP together again

Jim and Maria
Sending my condolences to you both. Your mother has been a fixture in my life since my earliest memories. Always “Auntie Winnie” to me, and always a kind presence in my life. She was one of my mother’s dearest friends and has been a huge support to my mother these past several years. A true friend to the end. That old school gang of friends have now mostly passed.
We can celebrate your mom, for a life well lived in every way possible.

Louise and family

My sincerest condolences to you .
