Obituary

Winston Bailey passed away on February 17th, 2024, at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s.  Son of the late Jacob Hiscock and Melvina Bailey.

Survived by his Son Michael (Krista) Bailey; his four granddaughters Alexandra, Maggie, Sarah, and Lucy Bailey. His Brothers Roy (Judy) and Raymond (Joan) Bailey. Nephews Jason and Sheldon, Nieces Jennifer and Claudette.

Winston was born in Come By Chance, he lived and raised his son in Ivany’s Cove. In the later years of his life, he resided in Arnolds Cove where he was looked out to by Bert and Ettie Slade and his lifelong friend Rex Crocker and his wife Elizabeth. He enjoyed planting vegetables and tending to his garden with his dear friend Mike Dolan at Mike’s home in Southern Harbour.

His son Michael would like to express his gratitude to the Medical team at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, the Medical and support team at Pleasant View Towers. Without them, it would have been impossible for Michael to have been able to keep his father comfortable during the last 6 months of his life.

During Winston’s most difficult moments and near the end of his life his concern wasn’t for himself… It was for his son, his son’s wife, and their children. Winston said “Michael, look after all those girls, and Michael my son, I love you.”

Cremation has taken place, and he will be laid to rest with his Mom and Dad in the Spring in North West Brook cemetery.
